Routes: Maaruig - Reinigeadal - Urgha - Maaruig loop

Either way round its a trail to die for and one you could die on if your not too careful!

Stunning technical trail with superfast descent, superslow climbs - biggest risk of crashing is because its difficult keeping your eye on the trail with all that stunning scenery around you!

Maaruig to Reinigeadal section is on tarmac but dont be fooled into thinking its a gentle warm-up - the road climb is one of the steepest on the island!

The Rheinigeadal to Urgha section may only be 3.5 miles tarmac to tarmac but with over 500m of climbing it is no pushover - well actually that's probably exactly what it is! Only the very best could clean the 300m climb out of Urgha and riding down the zig zags requires pretty much a death wish! Going the other way, I doubt if anyone could ride all the way up the zig zags but what a fabulous descent it is down to Urgha - NONE better.

This photo was taken on the Postmans Track from Reinigeadal to Urgha and shows the infamous zig-zags. I dont think postie took his bike though!

Urgha to Maaruig follows a trail alongside Loch Laxavat and over a low bealach. Wet and muddy in places but with no technical difficulties.
