Balblair Black Route

Fantastic technical black route at Balblair (Forestry Commission Woodland ), starts with a forest track climb followed by a blue link route.  Then straight into the Hard Rock trail (see pic 1). Lots of rock and straightforward north-shore like boardwalk.   This is followed by Candy Mountain (pic 2), starts with rock and boardwalk followed by the fastest part of the trail (Gav would love it!). Yhis was the best section of the lot with a couple of jumps etc thrown in.  The run home consists of the more technical rock gardens  called Slab & Tickle and Slab happy.  I actually had to bail as I lost it on a rocky section towards the end of Slab & Tickle, but that was the only near miss. I rode trail rakers on the Epic (1.95 width) which were a little on the skinny side, also if you have a bike with more than 100mm travel I would use it.  All in all probably the best technical black route I ridden for a while, well worth the drive.
