Future users and builders get together

The Bridge Community Centre recently took a group of young people to the new mountain bike trail development in the castle grounds to meet trail builder Pete Laing. The group of 7 young cycling enthusiasts were introduced to the first phase of works in Willowglen and learned a lot about what it takes to build good quality trails. Pete explained that if the work is done properly, trails will last for 20-30 years no problems. The kids shared their ideas and desires for a jump park in particular and were encouraged that they could have some say and input practically in the design of special sections. The young people hope to do some work on the Willowglen trail, guided by Pete and Chris Harris. They were all enthusiastic and knew of loads of other young people who would like to get involved. It was a good start, hopefully we will see interest and skills develop at a rapid rate now!
